Laundry activities generate wastewater containing high phosphate level.  Wastewater can potentially cause an environmental pollution, particularly to the water. According to laboratorial assessment of laundry in Tambakbayan Village, Catur Tunggal, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, has been known that it has a phosphate level of 11,3330 mg/L. This result was not accordance with government regulation No.82 of 2001 which mentions that the permitted levels of phosphate in wastewater group IV is 5 mg / L. This research was aimed to assess the reduction of total phosphate level in laundry wastewater by using aeration-filtration method in Tambakbayan Village, Catur Tunggal, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This research is an experimental research with pre post test research design by descriptive and analytical analysis. The result of the research noted that the reduction of total phosphate level in laundry wastewater was 38,7032% in filtration I with the medium thickness of 15 cm, 42,2195% in filtration II with medium thickness of 20 cm, and 44,0461% in filtration II with medium thickness of 25 cm. The research concludes that there is a reduction of total phosphate level in laundry wastewater by using an aeration filtration method.
