HUBUNGAN HIPERTENSI DENGAN KEJADIAN DEMENSIA PADA LANSIA DI DUSUN GONDANG RW 03, KECAMATAN MUNGKID, KABUPATEN MAGELANG

ABSTRACT
In 2019, Indonesia shows an old pyramid which means a high number of elderly people. A degenerative disease that is often experienced by the elderly is hypertension. Dementia can occur due to hypertension due to narrowing of the arteries in the subcortical area which results in micro-infarction and cognitive decline. Data obtained from the World Alzheimer's Report in 2013 predicts that the number of elderly people with dementia will increase from 101 million to 277 million by 2050. The purpose of this study was to find out the relation between hypertension and dementia in eldery at Godang village Rw 03, Mungkid district, Magelang Regency. The research design used was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 45 elderly people aged 60-75 years. The sampling technique used purposive sampling obtained 40 respondents. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. The instrument used was MMSE (Mini Mental Status Examination). The incidence of hypertension in the elderly is mostly (72.5%) included in the level 1 hypertension group, less than half (25%) are included in the level 2 hypertension group and a small proportion (2.5%) are included in the level 3 hypertension group. who have normal and abnormally high blood pressure. The incidence of dementia in the elderly mostly (70%) had dementia and a small proportion (30%) still had good cognitive function. There is no significant relationship between hypertension and the incidence of dementia in the elderly with a P value (Sig 2-tailed) 0.147 (> 0.05). Thecorrelation between hypertension and the incidentt of dementia at elderly in the Gondang RW 03 Village, Mungkid District, Magelang Regency is that there is no correlation between hypertension and the incidence of dementia at elderly in Gondang Village Rw 03, Mungkid District, Magelang Regency with a P value (Sig 2-tailed) 0.147 (> 0.05).
