Abstract

ABSTRACT

Indonesia produces 1.7 million blood bags per year. This figure is still below the total need for blood in Indonesia, which is 4.8 – 5 million bags of blood per year or 2% of the total population of Indonesia. There are still many people who are not willing to become donors because they are not motivated and do not know the health benefits of blood donation. If the need for blood has been fulfilled, there will be no patient delays in surgery or minimizing the failure of the operation so that the patient's soul can be saved.  This study aims to describe the level of knowledge and motivation of the community in blood donation activities at PMI Sleman Regency.  This research is a descriptive analytic study with a cross sectional research design.  The results showed that the level of knowledge about blood donation at PMI Sleman was in the high category, which was 82%. The motivation of donors at PMI Sleman were good at 90%. Blood donation activities at PMI Sleman were routine activities carried out.
