Abstract

Social activities carried out voluntarily and are able to save others in fulfilling blood needs are blood donations. Donated blood will be processed and staged until it is suitable for giving to recipients. Giving blood to recipient patients is often known as blood transfusion activities, and this activity must meet certain stages and requirements before being carried out. The stages or requirements that are taken are that they must be free from infectious diseases through blood transfusions. Some infectious diseases can be identified using molecular methods, including DNA isolation. Students of Sadewa Health Vocational School are students majoring in health, and prospective donors who are able to understand the method of examining infectious diseases through DNA isolation. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge about how to isolate DNA from blood as one method of detecting infectious diseases through blood transfusions. The counseling carried out by the community service team is to open the insights of Sadewa Health Vocational School students in examining diseases that can be transmitted through blood using the DNA isolation method. The audience can get to know the tools and materials used, and the mechanism of the molecular examination method.
